These terms apply to consultations booked through this website or with our office.
1. Booking
- Consultations are available on weekdays between 09:00 and 16:00, excluding South African public holidays. Mr V Tshangana consults on Tuesdays and Fridays; Ms I Mkiva consults on any weekday.
- The fee for a new consultation is R1,200.00 (excluding VAT), paid by EFT. Existing clients book without a fee, or as arranged with the firm, and do not need to upload proof of payment.
- When you submit a request, your slot is held with the status Pending Payment Verification.
- Unpaid bookings are held for 48 hours. If no proof of payment is received within 48 hours of your request (or before the consultation time, if that is sooner), the booking expires automatically, the slot is released, and we email you to let you know.
- Your booking is confirmed only once we have verified your payment (usually within 1 business day). You will then receive a confirmation email and a calendar invitation.
- The firm may decline a booking, for example because of a conflict of interest or because the matter is outside its practice areas. If we decline your booking, we refund your fee in full.
2. The consultation
- Consultations take place in person at our offices at Unit 2, 15 Kennington Road, Nahoon, East London 5200. Virtual consultations are available by arrangement.
- The consultation lets you discuss your matter and your options. Views given in a first consultation are based on the information available at the time, and may change once all the facts and documents have been considered.
- Please bring any documents relevant to your matter, and give us accurate and complete information.
- If you arrive late, the consultation will still end at the scheduled time, and the full fee applies.
3. No attorney-client relationship until a mandate is signed
Attending a consultation does not mean the firm has agreed to act for you. The attorney-client relationship begins only once you and the firm have signed a mandate setting out the scope of work and fees.
4. Further work and fees
The consultation fee covers the consultation only. Any further work, such as drafting, correspondence, registrations or representation, is quoted and charged separately. The consultation fee is not credited against further work unless the firm agrees to this in writing.
5. Cancellations, rescheduling and refunds
- At least 24 hours' notice: if you cancel or ask to reschedule at least 24 hours before your consultation, you may choose a full refund or a new time.
- Less than 24 hours' notice, or no-show: no refund. If you do not attend (a no-show), the fee is forfeited.
The full rules are in our Payment & Cancellation Policy.
6. Confidentiality
Information you share in a consultation is treated confidentially, in line with our professional obligations and our Privacy Policy.
